Penal Code § 470. Forgery occurs when an individual knowingly alters, creates, or uses a written document, intending to commit a fraud for their own benefit. Under Penal Code section § 473, forgery is punishable by imprisonment in the state prison, or by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than one year. |
