Failure to Register as a Sex Offender
Penal Code § 290 to 290.023. If an individual is convicted of certain sex offenses, he/she is required under California State law to register as a sex offender each year within 5 business days of his/her birthday and to register each time he/she changes place of residence. The failure to do so will result in being charged with felony failure to register, which is punishable by up to 3 years in state prison.
